My buddy Vincent Laforet got the opportunity to test drive the new Canon 5D MKII, which along with being a great still camera, now will afford every still photographer the ability to shoot beautiful films. I’m definitely looking forward to my upgrade!
Take a look at his blog to see his account, his film, and the behind-the-scenes video!

Yesterday I was out shooting the turbulent economy for the Wall Street Journal. Morning started at 630 at the corporate headquarters of Lehman Brothers, the over century-and-a-half old financial services firm that filed the largest bankruptcy in U.S. history. My job was to make pretty/interesting photos of the headquarters.
Afterward, I went down to the floor of the stock exchange to take more pictures. Which meant I had to wear a jacket and tie, blah! Then to the New York Mercantile Exchange, and back to the NYSE floor for the closing bell. It turned out I shot the worst drop in the Dow Industrial since 9/11.
It seems our economy is in the pooper. Crap.

I had a fun assignment a little over a week ago on the set of FOX’s new drama “FRINGE”…Since it just published in the paper, I can finally post up some phoos….and no better day then the show’s premiere night.
I really get a kick out of how television and movies are produced, so every time I’m on a set I really just take it in. I’m a TV show junkie, so I love to see behind the scenes and how the shows are created, not to mention getting to interact with the actors and production staff on the set.
What was fun was walking into hair and makeup and and seeing an actor lying on the ground and realizing he’s playing a corpse undergoing an autopsy. Gnarly! The best was him walking through the line for dinner. :)

I got to spend some time with my family last week over Labor Day weekend because I had a shoot in Ohio. I scheduled 4 days around the assignment so I could visit the many family members spread across the state. It turned out to be a good time, not only for the great Labor Day BBQ at my dad’s, but Aug 29 and Aug 30 are my two sisters’ birthdays. I like documenting my family….always fun to look back and remember when.
Whenever I go home it’s always difficult to spread myself out as I have my grandparents who live up north, dad and siblings who live Columbus, and mom and brother in Athens. It’s always a trek around the state trying to work on other people’s schedules. I got to meet with a few friends in Columbus, Doral Chenoweth III, a staff photographer for the Columbus dispatch and one of my internship mentors from back in the day…and also Kyle Robertson, another staffer at the Dispatch and college classmate. Good times.
Anyhow, I’ve been wanting to update this blog for a while, and have some cool things to put up soon, but I’m waiting for the articles to publish so I can do so!
Here are some pictures from my trip home.
